THE KOREAN ZOMBIE VS. RENATO MOICANO HEADLINES UFC GREENVILLE

Fans have been asking for weeks what the main event of UFC Fight Night 154 would be, and for the longest time, no one knew. The event takes place June 22 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, and also local boy Stephen”Wonderboy” Thompson unavailable to fight soon after the beating he took against Anthony Pettis in March, it was difficult to predict who would headline the card.
Now we know.
The UFC announced this week that the primary event of UFC Fight Night 154 is going to be an exciting five-round featherweight struggle between”The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and Renato Moicano. These are two of the best featherweights in the world, which battle should be a lot of fun. It May not be a title fight, but you would be hard-pressed to view any lovers whine about this struggle Jung (14-5) is coming off of a last-second KO loss to Yair Rodriguez in UFC Fight Night 139 in one of the most significant MMA fights of all time. Jung was well on his way to winning the bout before he got caught with an unorthodox upward elbow by Rodriguez at the 4:59 mark of the fifth round and endured a shocking knockout loss. His UFC record dropped to 4-2, but the truth he’s won six bucks in six UFC battles says what about Jung. Win or lose, Jung is one of the most exciting fighters we’ve ever seen in this game. It will be difficult to recuperate from such a brutal KO following such a war of a struggle, but after shooting over six weeks off to cure, hopefully he is 100% healthy and good to go for this fight. The loss to Rodriguez knocked him out of the featherweight title picture for now, but when he can beat Moicano, he’ll jump right back into the mix.
Moicano (13-2-1) is also coming from a brutal KO loss, this one to Jose Aldo back in UFC Fight Night 144. Like Jung, Moicano was winning the struggle until Aldo turned back the clock and unleashed a violent flurry of strikes that knocked Moicano out. Overall he’s one of the best featherweights in the world and 5-2 in the UFC. Aside from declines to Aldo and Brian Ortega — there is no shame to shedding to either of those guys — Moicano has been one of the best featherweights in the UFC differently. Like Jung, he wants to rebound from his last loss to be able to rejoin the featherweight title combination, but there’s no reason to thing that he can not do it.
The odds for this battle ought to be interesting if they come out, but when I had to guess, Moicano will be marginally preferred. Bettors will probably be looking to fade Jung coming off of the lousy loss while Moicano is somebody who constantly gets a lot of respect from the betting public. Nonetheless, it’s definitely a close fight that could go either way, and MMA fans in Carolina should be excited that they landed this exciting struggle as the main event of UFC Fight Night 154.
